Pitcher pitches in and Braves win
By Matt Murnane • Jul 16th, 2008 • Category: Baseball, SportAn outstanding pitching effort from striker Michael Reid has helped Colac Braves baseball team jump to fourth place on the ladder.
Reid led the Braves to their fifth victory in the Geelong Baseball Association B Grade competition by restricting sixth-placed Saints to just seven runs.
The Braves exploded out of the blocks in the first innings with hitters Brendan DeLorenzo, Kurt Wilson, Mark Billing and Brian Hillman all smashing homers to give their side a seven-runs-to-nil lead.
Reid took over from there, throwing hard and fast all day as the Braves coasted to an impressive 15-7 victory.
The win turned the tables on the last time the two teams met, back in round seven when the Saints dismissed the Braves 17-5.
Braves coach Darren Morrissy said the win proved a point to the rest of the league with just six weeks remaining until finals.
