Colac shooter’s world title gold
By Loretta Wilmink • Aug 25th, 2008 • Category: Shooting, SportColac shooter Tom Holt will return to Colac with two gold medals and a silver medal after competing in two world championship events in Ireland.
But despite the medal haul, 19-year-old Holt was disappointed after he missed the World Down The Line Junior Shooting Championships individual final by one point after weather conditions hampered competitors.
Proud parents Stephen and Vera said they spoke to their son for two or three minutes at 7am yesterday.
Mr Holt said his son won a gold medal in the under-21 100-target points score on Friday, shooting 296 points out of a possible 300 points.
“The next day they had the world championships and the first round he shot 294 out of 300 which was excellent and the second day he shot 292 out of 300 and that score won gold for the Australian under-21 three-man team,” he said.
“The team gold was what they were chasing.”
