A Colac cowgirl has ramped up her competition schedule to ensure she will feature at national titles.
National breakaway roping record holder Amber Burns said she had commenced intense training ahead of January’s nationals.
“The top 15 get to compete at the nationals,” Burns said.
“I am fourth in breakaway roping and 12th in barrel racing,” she said.
“The season ends on November 30 and I need to make sure I stay in the top 15.”
Burns will travel across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia before November 30.
She said Colac’s recent wet weather had changed the way she trained.
“I am in the process of getting my horse fit again but I haven’t done a lot because it has been so wet,” Burns said.
