Shooter aiming for world titles

091104KK013A Australia’s top veteran shooter Rod Brain says he’s excited about the rest of the world coming to him for a change.
Colac’s international-calibre marksman has travelled far and wide to match firearms with the world’s top shooters in the past few years.
But later this month, this year’s world veteran shooting titles will be near enough to Brain’s own back yard and the 63-year-old hopes the home-range advantage will count for plenty.
The Australian representative has never won a world title but will get another opportunity on November 16 when Field and Game Federation of Australia hosts the world championships at Laang, near Warrnambool.
“I’m in with a chance like everyone else there,” Brain said.
“I’ve travelled overseas representing Australia in three World Games before,” he said.
“Now that’s in my own back yard this year, I better do something.”
Brain could not be in better form than he is right now.
He added another accolade to his long shooting honour roll by winning this year’s Field and Game Australia national veterans’ title at the weekend – the culmination of a year-long competition.

CHAMPION: Top veteran shooter Rod Brain with his gold medal.
