The breed is simply champion

A Colac district farmer says a love of poll hereford cows has kept her showing the breed for more than 20 years.
Larpent’s Jen Hand said poll herefords were quiet natured and ideal to show.
“There are no prams or children running around on my farm so you have to slowly introduce those sorts of things to them,” Ms Hand said.
“But they are very quiet by nature and they don’t have horns, which is a good thing,” she said.
“They are also a good commercial breed – that’s why you see them in paddocks everywhere.”
Ms Hand’s poll hereford Sussie won supreme champion of her breed class at the Colac Show on Friday.
Ms Hand said she had grown up showing cattle.
“I have been showing since I was three,” Ms Hand said.
“It’s just a bit of fun and a chance to catch up with people,” she said.
Ms Hand said showing was a good chance to get away from an isolated farm.
She said she enjoyed success at the Geelong Show last month.
