Winchelsea kept its giant-killing reputation intact with
victory over an in-form Simpson.
Just seven days after conjuring a stunning Corangamite Bowling Association win over defending premier City One, Winchelsea made it two-in-a-row on its home turf.
The 101-76 win was the biggest of the weekend’s matches and ended Simpson’s three-game winning streak.
It also moved Winchelsea to fifth position on the ladder, seven
points behind fourth-placed Simpson.
Winchelsea’s David Littler’s rink led the way with a 34-11 win over Simpson’s Paul Newcombe and stand-in skipper David Schroder had a comfortable 27-15 defeat of Neil Hawkins.
Stuart Williams fell to Peter Campbell, 21-23, and David
Stephenson suffered Winchelsea’s biggest loss, going down 19-27.
But while all four rinks didn’t dominate, the collective team effort was enough to register Winchelsea’s second win of the season.
Club president Peter McConachy, lead on Schroder’s rink, said a team-before-individual mentality and improvement in the club’s younger players had helped Winchelsea’s season.

HEAVY LOSS: Winchelsea’s David Stephenson suffered a heavy rink loss on Saturday, but his team won easily overall.
